This is for apple fanboys and fangirls. I’m not talking about people that LIKE apple and their products, im in that bracket. I’m talking about blind followers.
The right mouse button is a nice point of proof for this phenomenon.
For years, windows users (and windows fanboys, also guilty of this behaviour), said that one thing they used that macs didn’t have, was the right mouse button. Much could be achieved and mac’s obviously were missing out.
Mac disciples always made the argument that you didnt need it, and you could achieve more functions by ctrl+clicking anyway.
Then the mighty mouse arrived. Right mouse button functionality. Hailed as a great addition to osx. Great marketing. Actually, at that point, osx caught up on 20 plus years of default PC functionality - but as my previous post shows - they didn’t even catch up properly.
There are further instances.
MMS was missing from iphone. ‘Its old technology that we dont need, we have email’ said the early adopting disciples, perhaps not realising the irony of calling MMS old in relation to email. Then, it was added to iphone. This made iphone catch up with 5 or more years of mobile phone development.
Suddenly, this feature was revolutionary.
All i’m asking - is we keep just a little perspective.
